Lost $40 on those peel and stick wallpaper panels, here's my warning

Last month I got excited about those big peel and stick wallpaper panels at the craft store, thought it'd be a quick fix for our boring hallway wall. Spent $40 on two rolls, watched a tutorial, and started applying them Saturday morning. Within 48 hours the edges were curling up, especially near the baseboard, and the pattern looked all wavy where the air bubbles wouldn't come out. Tried a hair dryer and a credit card to smooth them, nothing helped, so I peeled them off and lost the whole $40. Has anyone else had luck with a different brand or maybe a paste-on option instead?
