My kid's crayon mural now looks intentional after a weekend project
My 4 year old went nuts on our dining room wall with a purple crayon, and instead of painting over it I grabbed a cheap frame from the thrift store for $8, cut a mat out of poster board, and mounted it around the chaos. It reads as a quirky art piece now, honestly better than the blank wall. Anyone else turn a disaster into decor or am I just enabling future Picasso behavior?

Frame it and call it art all you want, but that just teaches the kid that wrecking the house gets rewarded with a thrift store prize. Just wait until the orange crayon phase hits the sofa. You're not fixing the problem, you're just making it look fancy.

My neighbor did the same thing with her kid's scribbles on the drywall, then she posted it online like it was a masterpiece. We've got this whole trend now where every mess gets turned into a keepsake, every tantrum gets a reward. I saw a guy at the store praising his toddler for dumping cereal all over the aisle because it made a "pretty pattern." At some point, we stopped teaching kids that actions have consequences and started making everything into a cute story. That's how you end up with a six-year-old who thinks drawing on the car is just another way to get attention.
