Poster frames changed my whole look without spending much

I had three cheap band posters taped to my wall for like two years. Looked messy. Then I grabbed 5 dollar frames from the Target clearance rack in Portland. Now it looks like an actual gallery wall. Anyone else have a cheap frame trick that worked way better than you expected?

Five dollar frames from Target aren't really clearance prices, those are just their normal cheap frames. You probably paid full price for something that's basically thin plastic with glass that breaks if you sneeze at it. That said, you're right that framing changes everything. I did the same thing with some old concert posters from the 90s but I went to Goodwill instead. Found solid wood frames with real glass for three bucks each, just had to clean them up. Even with a few scratches they looked way better than anything new from a store. The trick is to measure your posters before you go shopping so you don't bring home a frame that's too small or too big.

I heard somewhere that a lot of those cheap new frames actually use acrylic that warps in heat, so the scratched Goodwill wood frames are probably better for long term anyway. @gavinperez you reminded me I should measure my posters before hunting, I always guess and end up with frames that are way too big. It's wild how just putting something in a decent frame, even a used one, makes it look ten times more put together.
