Rant: friend said my washi tape grid looked like a middle school project

My buddy came over last weekend and saw the wall in my kitchen that I covered with a washi tape pattern. He laughed and said it looked like something his 12 year old niece made. It stung because I spent like 14 bucks total on three rolls from the dollar store and it took me a whole evening to line everything up straight. But then I looked at it again and honestly he kinda had a point. The lines were too busy and the colors clashed with my table. I ended up ripping it all down and just did a simple wide stripe with two rolls and it looks way better. Has anyone else had someone trash talk their cheap wall art and then you realized they were right? What did you switch to instead?

Is it really worth losing sleep over what a buddy said about some dollar store tape? You took the whole thing down anyway, so sounds like you agreed with him deep down. People get weirdly attached to stuff they spent 4 hours on, even if it looks like a craft bin exploded. The real question is why his opinion cut that deep in the first place. If a simple stripe looks better, then the joke's on you for not doing that from the start, not on him for having eyes.
