Tried framing my kids' school art with twine and clothespins, now it's a permanent gallery wall

Last month I hung 12 pieces of my kids' art across our hallway using twine and mini clothespins from the dollar store, total cost about $8. I figured it'd be a quick swap since the drawings change every few weeks. Turns out the kids love seeing their stuff up so much that they're making new art daily just to replace the old stuff. Now I'm rotating frames and they're getting bossy about placement. My 7 year old actually told me "that rocket ship needs to be eye level, mom." Has anyone else accidentally created a rotating gallery that your kids now run like a museum?

Stop letting them run the show. You set up a simple system and now you have tiny art directors giving you notes on lighting and sight lines. That's backwards. Kids need to learn that not everything they make deserves a prime spot in the hallway. Next thing you know they'll be demanding museum hours and an opening reception. Take half of it down and put up some family photos or a calendar. They'll throw a fit for a week, then they'll move on. You're the parent, not the curator.
