Wrote my kid's name on 14 drawings before I figured out she hated it
For about 3 months I was taping my daughter's preschool art to the kitchen wall and writing her name and the date on every single one with a Sharpie. Last week she asked me why I was "ruining" them, and I looked closer at a watercolor from Ms. Alvarez's class in room 7 and saw she had already signed the corner herself in purple crayon. I felt like a jerk for not even noticing. Now I just hang them as is with blue painter's tape. Anyone else catch themselves adding stuff to their kids' art without thinking?
My buddy did the same thing with labels on his son's Lego builds till the kid started hiding them in his closet. Now he just leaves everything alone and the kid shows him stuff on his own.
