Co-op vs competitive nights, one clearly wins with my group
I run a game night every other Friday in my apartment, about 6 people show up. For months we bounced between competitive stuff like Catan and Ticket to Ride, and it always ended with someone sulking over a bad trade or a blocked route. Last month I pulled out a co-op game, Pandemic, just to switch it up, and the whole room got louder and more engaged. We lost twice in a row but nobody cared, people were high fiving and planning together instead of checking their phones. I started tracking it, 4 co-op nights versus 6 competitive nights, and the co-op evenings run about an hour longer and zero arguments happen. I know some folks love the tension of outsmarting a friend, so what do you all do when your group has that one person who gets too salty in competitive games, do you stick with the knife fights or go full team mode?
