Guy at my game night said buying games is the hobby, not playing them, and I can't get it out of my head
We were packing up after a 4 player round of Wingspan at his place in Columbus and he pointed at his shelf, 60 plus boxes, and said he's played maybe 12 of them more than once. I keep looking at my own pile of shame now and wondering if he's right about all of us. How many games in your collection have you actually gotten to the table more than twice?
How many of those 12 did he play because he actually wanted to, versus just teaching them to other people at game night? I ask because I've noticed my own shelf splits into two groups: games I bought to play and games I bought because they looked good on a shelf or got hyped online. The second group never gets touched because deep down I know I only wanted to own them, not learn them. Do you think the real issue is the buying, or is it that we keep buying games that need a group we don't actually have?
