Had my game group bail last minute so I tried solo board gaming for the first time
I was all set up for a night of Dune: Imperium last Friday in my basement, everyone texted they were sick or busy within 20 minutes of each other. Figured I'd try the solo mode and honestly it was way more tense than playing with my usual group because I didn't have anyone to blame when I messed up a turn. Anyone else have a game that works better solo than with friends?

...and what's funny is I actually find myself more focused playing Spirit Island solo than with my group because there's no one talking over the strategy or rushing through the rules... I had this one game where I lost three turns in a row because I kept forgetting about the invader phase in my own head, but it felt like a real puzzle I had to crack instead of just winning with friends... sometimes I think the pressure is lower when it's just you and the game, you know?

People forget that playing solo means you're the only one accountable for every mistake. No one else to blame or carry you. Makes you learn the game better than any group session could.
