My buddy Dale swore Spirit Island gets easier after 5 plays and I owe him an apology
I picked up Spirit Island about 3 months ago and the first 4 games were brutal, like losing on turn 6 brutal, and I was ready to trade it away. My friend Dale, who has played it maybe 60 times, kept telling me to just push through to my 5th game because something clicks once you stop reading every card every turn. I did not believe him at all, I figured he was just one of those guys who loves punishing games. Game 5 I played River Surges in Sunlight and won with 2 blight left on the board, and game 6 I actually had a plan going in instead of panicking. Now I am at 14 plays and I get why people call it a lifestyle game, the fear of the unknown was the hard part, not the rules. Has anyone else had a game that flipped for them at a very specific play count like that?
