Overheard a D&D group arguing about dice trays, now I get it

At my local shop last Saturday, some players were going back and forth about felt vs wood trays and why rolling on the bare table was ruining their rolls. I always thought it was just noise, but after trying a friend's cheap tray for one session, the dice actually land more consistent for me. Anyone else notice a real difference or is it just superstition?

Felt trays definitely change things, it's not just in your head. The dice stop bouncing off hard wood and landing where physics says they should. It keeps them in one spot so you can actually read the result, which sounds dumb but matters. I went from rolling off the table onto the floor twice a session to zero. Superstition plays a part for some folks, but the feel is real. Cheap tray works just as good as fancy ones.
