Overheard a game designer at a con talk about prototype materials
I was at Gen Con last month and passed by this booth where a designer was explaining to a friend that he uses cheap cork board and spray adhesive for his prototypes instead of fancy printed cards. Said it costs him maybe $15 per iteration versus $60 for a print run, and he can tweak things in minutes. Got me thinking about how much I overthink my own prototypes. Does anyone else go overboard with production value before the game is even locked down?

That cork board tip just saved me a ton of money. I was overthinking everything.

Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Overthinking is such a trap, isn't it? You spend hours scrolling and comparing when the simplest thing was right in front of you the whole time. So what was the specific problem you were trying to solve with the cork board? Like, were you mapping out a project timeline or organizing notes for something at home? I swear, sometimes we just need to touch paper and see it all laid out instead of staring at a screen. It's like cutting through all the noise and getting straight to the point.
