That guy at the FLGS who ranted about game expansions for 20 minutes straight
Last Friday at Dice Dojo in Chicago, some dude cornered me by the shelf of Eldritch Horror expansions. He went on about how the Forsaken Lore expansion "breaks the game balance" because it adds 8 new mysteries but only 4 new investigators. I tried to leave twice but he kept following me. Has anyone else run into this type of person at their local game store?

The real issue isn't the guy himself. It's that stores let this happen. Dice Dojo has those big tables near the expansions. Employees walk right past. They should have a policy. Two minute limit on unsolicited game talk or store staff steps in. I've seen this at my local shop too. They put a timer on the free demo tables. Cut the ranting way down.

Jumping straight in - I'm actually wondering if the real problem is the store layout itself. @ruby_lane mentioned Dice Dojo's big tables near the expansions, but what if they moved those demo tables further from the shelves? My local shop shifted the free play area to a separate room and the unsolicited game rants dropped way off, because people can't trap shoppers as they're browsing. It's not just a policy thing, it's about making it physically harder for folks to corner you while you're trying to grab a new board game.
