The way people shuffle their deck at game night drives me nuts

I was at a meetup in Portland last month and half the table was riffle shuffling their sleeved cards. If you do that the corners get bent in about 10 plays. I told one guy his brand new Arkham Horror deck was already showing wear. Does anyone else just do a simple pile shuffle and call it good.

And it's not just the corners either, riffle shuffling sleeved cards leaves those little air pockets between the sleeve and the card that just never flatten out. I watched a guy at that same meetup do a bridge shuffle with his Dragon Shield sleeves and it made that awful crackling sound the whole time. A pile shuffle into a simple overhand shuffle takes maybe an extra minute and your cards stay crisp for years. One buddy of mine only does the classic casino wash on the table and his collection from 2015 still looks like it just came out of the pack.
