Vent: My friend's 'strategy' almost cost us a 3 hour game of Twilight Imperium

Last Saturday at Jake's apartment in Austin, my buddy Mark spent 45 minutes negotiating a peace treaty with two other players, only to break it on his very next turn because he 'forgot the terms.' We were 2 hours into a 5-player game and he basically handed the win to the guy next to him. I swear, some people just play to see the table burn lol. Has anyone else had a friend completely derail a long session with a random move like that?

Last Tuesday my buddy Steve spent 20 minutes at the grocery store rearranging the cart because he put the milk on the wrong side of the eggs. It's like some people need to make a big show of breaking their own systems just to feel in control. Sounds like Mark was more interested in the drama of the betrayal than actually winning the game. Maybe it's just a personality type that gets a kick out of chaos no matter the cost.

That buddy Steve sounds exhausting honestly. I know someone exactly like that who will spend forever organizing their desk at work but then miss every deadline because they're so focused on the little stuff. It's like they're avoiding the real problems by making new ones to solve. Mark probably got more satisfaction from the shock of the betrayal than from actually trying to win the game. Some people just need that rush of chaos to feel like they're doing something important. They'd rather be the center of a mess than just quietly play the game right.
