Hit 200 welds on a single tank last week... that's a record for me
I've been doing boiler work for about 12 years now, and I finally hit 200 welds on one oxygen tank before it ran out. My old foreman always said 150 was the magic number, so I thought he was just talking big. Turns out I was wasting gas all those years by running my flow too high. Has anyone else tracked how many welds they get per tank and seen a big jump after tweaking their regulator?

That "150 was the magic number" line hits hard for me. I spent years thinking my old boss was just bragging about his work too, and it turned out I was burning through gas like crazy. I switched from a standard welding tip to a smaller one for thin wall work and got almost 50 extra welds per tank on my last job. It's wild how something as simple as the regulator setting can change everything after you've been doing it wrong for so long. Glad you finally cracked the code on that one.

I mean, maybe it's just me but I think it was actually the regulator, not the tip size, that saved most of that gas.
