Pro tip: I tried using a 3/8 inch drill bit on that old Pittsburgh boiler plate and it snapped clean off.

The metal was way harder than I figured, so now I always start with a pilot hole and ask, what's the toughest material you've had to drill through on a job?

Yeah hardened steel is no joke. I had to drill some old truck leaf springs once, ate right through a brand new bit.

Toughest material" I heard hardened steel can wreck bits fast.
