Thought those new digital pressure gauges were just expensive toys

Got stuck on a stubborn boiler in a Pittsburgh plant about 8 months back. My old analog gauge kept bouncing around, couldn't get a solid read. Boss handed me one of those digital ones, cost over $200. Took a clean reading in two seconds, showed a tiny pressure drop the old gauge missed. Found a hairline crack in a feed line we would have totally overlooked. Anyone else made the switch and been surprised?

Had the same thing happen with a stubborn air compressor. The digital readout was rock solid and showed a slow leak we chased for an hour with a wiggly analog needle.

Three hours on a Saturday morning with an analog gauge on a 80-gallon tank last spring. We were swapping hoses, spraying soap, checking every fitting. The needle was bouncing around like it had a mind of its own. Our shop foreman nearly threw the gauge across the garage. You guys really saw that much of a difference switching over?

Our Philly crew switched last year, saved three big jobs.
