TIL boilermaker codes have a specific rule for rivet spacing I never noticed

I know a few guys who ran into this on a big tank job down in Houston and the inspector made them redrill half the lap seams. That was a two day redo and the company ate the labor. I guess the rule is old school but the code still lists it plain as day. Has anyone else had to pull a print and fight an inspector over spacing on riveted seams?
