Oh man, my buddy had a similar thing happen. He was trying to explain a heat exchanger issue and someone asked if their toaster oven was broken.

Wow, @elizabetht56, that's a perfect example of what I see all the time. People hear something complicated and immediately link it to the closest thing in their kitchen. It's like our brains default to everyday stuff when we don't get the hard words. I bet half the misunderstandings online come from this kind of thing. Makes you wonder how we ever talk about tricky topics without a toaster oven reference.
