Why does nobody talk about the old welder who showed me a trick for lining up flanges in a tight spot?
He said, 'Kid, just scribe a line with soapstone on the inside of the pipe, not the outside, and you'll hit your mark every time,' and that tip saved me three hours on a job in a cramped boiler room last fall.

Come on, saving a career? It's a good tip for sure, but it's a time-saver on one job. Careers are built on way more than knowing where to scribe a line. It feels like we're calling a handy shortcut a life-changing event.
