Why does nobody talk about using a soapstone marker on hot metal
Last week I was fitting a patch plate on a 200 gallon tank and kept losing my chalk lines as soon as the metal warmed up. An old timer handed me a soapstone marker and told me to try it direct on the hot surface. Worked like a charm, no fading even when the plate hit 300 degrees. Has anyone else switched from chalk to soapstone for layout work?
