Chose a split board over a solid back for a 400 page rebind and now the spine has a spring to it
Had to decide between a solid board back and a split board on a heavy text block I was casing in last Tuesday, and I went with the split because it lets the spine flex. Six days in the joints sit flat when the book is open but the back still hinges clean instead of cracking at the shoulder. Is there a weight limit where you all stop using split boards and just go solid?
