Finally finished my first leather-bound restoration after 2 failed starts

Spent $40 on a proper paring knife from a local craft store and it made all the difference in getting the cover right - anyone else find that one tool that finally clicks for them?

Started with a cheap awl and just got so frustrated I almost quit. Swapped to a proper Japanese marking knife and everything just clicked into place after that.
