Noticed a lot more people bringing in old family Bibles for restoration lately

Got three in the shop this month, all from the 1920s, with spines completely gone. Anyone have a go-to method for that super thin, brittle paper they used back then?

Guess the 1920s were rough on spines and paper.

Actually, the 1920s saw a boom in cheap, mass produced books. They were made to be read and passed around, not sit perfect on a shelf. A worn out book from then just means it was well loved.

The dime novels from the 1890s were really the start of that trend, @abby_king22. The 20s just made it more common. Those old paperbacks were meant to fall apart after a few reads lol.
