Took 6 months to realize my pressing boards were warped, not my glue ups

I kept getting corners that just would not stay flat no matter how long I clamped them. After the fifth crooked project I finally grabbed a straightedge and checked my 3/4 inch plywood pressing boards. Both of them had a slight bow in the middle from sitting against a basement wall all winter. Swapped them out for some 1 inch MDF and suddenly everything squared up. Has anyone else fought a mystery problem that was just a flatness issue? How do you store your pressing boards?

MDF is the move. I lean mine against a wall but on edge, not flat. Never had that issue since.
