Tuesday went sideways, but the repair kit saved my spine
Had a rare leather binding job in Portland where the spine split clean down the middle after the glue dried too fast. I used a wheat paste and jigged it back, but it took 4 tries before the grain lined up right. Anyone else had a stubborn spine just refuse to cooperate, or was it just my humidity problem?

That line about the grain lining up hit close to home. It's like when you hang a picture frame and the level says it's straight, but your eye says it's tilted, so you mess with it for twenty minutes and end up exactly where you started. Same thing happens with my garage door sensor every time the weather shifts. It's never one big problem, just a bunch of tiny, stubborn alignments that refuse to behave until you almost give up. Then it clicks, and you can't remember why it was so hard in the first place.
