After 4 months of trying both, bottom-watering my succulents is way better than top-watering

I kept getting crispy leaves on my Echeveria when I watered from the top, but switching to a tray method stopped the rot and the roots actually reached down into the soil. Has anyone else noticed their plants look perkier with bottom-watering or is it just me?

Bottom watering saved my Lithops too, the taproots finally grew deep instead of just sitting on top and rotting.

Pretty sure taproots grow down regardless of how you water.
