Hot take: That neighbor's rare philodendron is not worth $400

Last month I went to a little plant swap up in Portland, you know the kind where people bring cuttings and pots. This one lady had a Philodendron Florida Ghost with maybe four leaves on it and she was asking 400 bucks. I get that variegated plants are trendy and all, but come on. I grow a lot of stuff in my own little greenhouse at home and I've seen these prices go totally wild since 2021 or so. She ended up selling it to some guy with a fancy camera who probably posted it on Instagram for likes. Has anyone else noticed this crazy pricing on common plants that just have a rare label slapped on them?

Yeah, that price is just ridiculous for a houseplant.

Oh man @oscar_hunt61, I just paid that much for a plant and it's basically a brown stick in a pot now lol. Guess my "green thumb" is more of a brown one.
