My Monstera almost murdered me at 2 AM last night

So I repotted this giant monstera in my apartment in Chicago around midnight because I couldn't sleep. I had the thing tilted sideways on my coffee table and the pot slipped right off, sending a cascade of potting soil and roots everywhere across my rug. Took me until 3:30 AM to sweep it all up, and now there's dirt caked into the fibers that I can't get out. Has anyone else had a plant project totally blow up in their face like this?

That 3:30 AM cleanup is brutal, especially when you're already running on no sleep. Did you at least get the plant back in its pot okay or did you just throw dirt all over the place and give up? I had a similar thing happen with a snake plant last year and I ended up finding soil in my couch cushions for weeks after. What kind of rug is it, one of those low pile ones or the shaggy type?

Ugh that sounds rough, I feel for you. The 3:30 AM dirt explosion is like a rite of passage for plant people I swear.

@umab35 please, it's just dirt, not a crime scene.
