My neighbor in Boise told me to stop misting my calathea and I owe her $40
So my calathea orbifolia had crispy edges for like 3 months straight and I was misting it twice a day thinking I was helping. My neighbor Carol saw me at it on the porch and said point blank that misting does almost nothing for humidity and I should just get a pebble tray or a cheap humidifier. I ignored her for 6 weeks because what does Carol know, she grows tomatoes. Then I finally caved and put a $25 humidifier next to it, and inside 2 weeks the new leaves came in clean with no brown tips at all. I killed the old leaves off anyway from all that misting gunk sitting on them. Now Carol waves at me from her yard every time I walk out with the spray bottle and I have to hide it. Anybody else get played by the misting advice or is it just me.
