My neighbor's obsession with native prairie plants turned his yard from a brown patch to a buzzing insect city in under 18 months.

He ripped out his entire Kentucky bluegrass lawn in Cincinnati and planted a mix of little bluestem, purple coneflower, and butterfly weed, which brought back more bees and monarchs than I've seen since I was a kid.

But have you considered how this affects property values? A messy yard full of weeds looks bad and can drag down the whole street's appeal. Those plants can spread seeds into other people's well kept lawns, creating more work for everyone. It also attracts bugs right up next to homes, which isn't great for neighbors who don't want bees or wasps near their kids or patios. There's a reason we have tidy lawns, it keeps things uniform and peaceful.

My neighbor's wildflowers brought back fireflies we haven't seen since the 90s, @felix_coleman87.

Totally agree with @felix_coleman87, my cousin did this and now their yard is just a tick haven that creeps into everyone else's grass.
