One comment about my clover patch made me rip it all out

Had a guy at the county extension office in Des Moines tell me my 3 year old clover lawn was just a weed patch, and he was right about how it spread into the beds. I dug up the front yard strip last month and put in creeping thyme instead, which stays low and actually smells good when you walk on it. Anyone else get harsh feedback that pushed you to tear out something you were proud of?

Clover does a lot of good for the soil and the bees, so the extension guy was probably just stuck in old-school turf thinking. That said, creeping thyme is a solid swap if you hated how the clover wandered, and the smell alone is a nice payoff for the digging. Different yards call for different things, so it’s not like one patch of clover makes you wrong.

Did you try the creeping thyme in full sun or part shade? That worked best for me.
