Showerthought: Heard a guy at the plant nursery call a pothos 'just a basic vine' and it kind of annoyed me.

That 'basic vine' cleaned the air in my apartment for three years and survived my terrible watering schedule, so maybe we need to respect the common plants more.

Tell you what, if it bugs you that much, just grab a couple more and make a big bushy pot of them. Nothing says "not basic" like a massive trailing pothos taking over your bookshelf. That usually shuts people up.

Honestly though, is it that deep? It's a plant. The guy at the nursery probably just meant it's a common, easy to find plant. Getting annoyed over that seems like a lot. They're tough plants, sure, but it's not a personal insult.

My neighbor got mad when I called her aloe vera a weed. It's funny how people tie their identity to plants sometimes. She still gives me cuttings though.
