The cactus at the gas station on Route 9 has been rotting for 6 months now
I stop at the Mobil in Poughkeepsie every week for energy drinks and that poor barrel cactus by the door has brown mush creeping up from the bottom. The cashier just shrugged when I asked about it and said they water it from a soda cup once a month. Has anyone ever convinced a store to actually fix their dying plant?

Have you tried offering to help them fix it yourself? I've convinced a couple stores to let me repot their sad plants just by being like "hey I work with this stuff, I can try to save it for free" and they usually hand me the keys.

Well that's a darn good point actually. I've noticed people are a lot more willing to let you help if you don't come across as pushy or judgmental. It's like if you just show you care and know what you're doing, they relax. Same thing happens at the grocery store when someone's struggling to reach something on a high shelf and you just ask if they need a hand instead of grabbing it for them. Most folks appreciate the offer more than the actual help sometimes.
