Warning: I watered my peace lily with 3 ice cubes a day for 2 weeks and it threw a fit
Read somewhere that ice cubes give slow water release, so I tried it on my peace lily in the kitchen window last month. Leaves went yellow by day 10, and my moisture meter read soaking wet 2 inches down while the top looked dry. Turns out the cubes melted in one pocket instead of spreading out. Anyone else tried the ice cube trick and had it backfire?
How many cubes were you dropping at once and where did you put them? If you stacked all 3 in the same spot every morning, that's basically pouring a shot glass of water into one corner of the pot. The rest of the root ball stays bone dry while that one pocket turns to mud. Did you poke a finger in a few inches over from where the cubes sat, or just check the one wet spot and assume the whole pot was soaked?
