Watered my prized orchid with ice cubes for 3 weeks before I realized the damage

I was at my desk in the sunroom last month and noticed my Phalaenopsis leaves were getting this weird yellow tint. Googled it and found out watering orchids with ice cubes is a total myth that slowly kills the roots from cold shock. I felt so dumb because I'd been doing it since I got the plant from a grocery store. I switched to tepid tap water once a week and it's already throwing out a new leaf. Has anyone else fallen for the ice cube trick or was I just the last one to figure this out?

Huh, I've actually had good luck with ice cubes for years.

Used to be against the whole ice cube thing myself. Always thought it would mess up the flavor or water it down too much. But @ryanburns, you got me thinking with that one - tried it a couple times last week with a darker roast and it was actually pretty smooth. Still not doing it every day but I get the appeal now.
