After laying 500 feet of block with a standard level, switching to a laser level cut my time in half on a job in Tacoma.
The laser kept everything plumb and level across the whole wall, so I wasn't constantly checking and adjusting every single block, which is why I think every mason should use one for long runs.

What brand of laser level did you end up using? I've been thinking about making the switch myself.

Actually, I just wanna gently push back on something. There's no "switch" to make here unless you're talking about moving from a different tool entirely. A laser level is a specific thing for hanging pictures or setting level lines, not really a replacement for a standard level. I've seen people get confused thinking a laser level can do everything a bubble level does and it just doesn't work that way in my experience. They're good for different jobs, like you'd use a laser for a long reference line across a room but still need a regular level for short, precise work. Your mileage may vary but I'd say keep both in your toolbox and pick based on what you're actually doing.
