Finally got my first arch right on a fireplace job in Akron last week

Took me 3 years of messing up keystone cuts before I figured out how to mark the angles from the center. Anyone else have a trick for keeping the arch consistent on long runs?

Arch forms are overrated, straight tops on fireplaces look way cleaner and save time.

Whoa wait hold on. Arch forms are OVERRATED? Man, I gotta say that's a HOT take. Every time I see a brick arch that's been laid with precision, those radial lines coming together perfect at the keystone, it just feels like REAL craftsmanship to me. A straight top is fine, sure, but an arch is like the bricklayer's flex. It's a skill that takes YEARS to get right and when it's done well it just hits different. I can't believe you'd call that overrated.
