Hit 4,000 bricks laid in one shift this past Tuesday, never thought I'd see that number

We were doing a warehouse wall in Tulsa and the mortar mix was perfect, not too sticky, so I just got into a rhythm and the foreman counted at the end, I couldn't believe it myself, has anyone else had a day where everything just lined up like that?

Why would you even want to hit that number? I've seen guys rush like that and the next day they're pulling bricks out to fix the joints, or the wall's out of level by a half inch. That number just means you were sloppy, not fast. A good solid day is 2,500 bricks done right, not 4,000 done fast and wrong. Yeah, it looks great on paper, but the foreman's gonna be the one sending someone back out there with a chisel to fix your mess. Congrats on the number, but I'd be more proud if you said the wall was still straight a week later.
