I dropped $400 on a fancy mortar mixer that just kept jamming up

Spent a full Saturday fighting with a brand new mixer before giving up and switching back to my old paddle and drill setup. Has anyone else had better luck with the cheaper paddle style versus those expensive spiral mixers?

My $200 paddle mixer from Home Depot has outlasted three fancy spiral ones.

Used to be all about the spiral mixers myself, swore by them for years. But @the_julia is absolutely right, my last paddle mixer from the same store has been going strong for three years now and cost way less. The fancy ones just seem to have more moving parts that can fail. Frankly, I wish I'd just saved the extra cash and bought a solid paddle mixer from the start.
