Lost $180 on a 'vintage' brick trowel that turned out to be junk

Picked up an old Marshalltown trowel at an estate sale near Toledo last month, thought I scored a deal. Got it home, sharpened it up, and the handle split on my third course. Found out it was a cheap knockoff from the 80s, not the real deal. Anyone else get burned by fake vintage tools on Facebook Marketplace?
