PSA: Noticing new brick types where the old factories stood
I was in the old industrial zone last week. They're putting up a new storage facility. The bricks are these pale, thin things. I remember when every brick had weight and character. We used to source local clay bricks. Now it's all imported, uniform stuff. Makes me miss the old ways.

Tell me about it. They threw up a warehouse by the old rail yard here, and the bricks look like they were printed on a computer. It all just feels cheap now, and it never looks right.

Paulw66's point about computer-printed bricks hits home... were the old local clay pits just better for the climate here? I remember those bricks having a rough texture that seemed to shed water better. These new pale ones look like they'd stain and wear down fast in our rainy seasons. Has anyone checked if that new storage facility already has moisture issues in its walls?
