Serious question, has anyone else had a brick saw blade just stop cutting halfway through a job?

Happened to me yesterday on a patio in Tacoma. My 14-inch diamond blade on the Stihl saw started making this high-pitched whine and wouldn't bite into the paver at all. I checked for binding, but the motor was fine. Ended up having to finish the cuts with a chisel and hammer, which added two hours. What's the usual life you get out of a blade before this happens?

Check your blade for glazing, it sounds like it got too hot. In my experience, a good blade should last through a whole patio unless you hit rebar or something. Let it cool down and try a dressing stone before you give up on it.

A whole patio on one blade? Bro, what kind of blades are you buying? I've burned through three blades on one long patio before, and I wasn't even hitting anything hard like rebar. If you get a full patio done without glazing or chipping, you gotta send me a link to whatever you're using. That sounds unreal to me, like a dream scenario. Most blades I've seen start singing after like 30 feet of pavers, let alone a whole patio setup. You must be cutting butter over there or something.
