Switched from a trowel to a hawk and it changed my whole rhythm

I was dead set against using a hawk for like 10 years. Always thought it was extra weight to carry around. But last week I borrowed one from a guy on a commercial job in Cleveland and man... the way it evens out your mud before you even touch the wall. I didn't expect to miss less spots on the first pass. Anyone else have a tool they hated that turned out to be a game changer?

extra weight to carry around" yeah I felt the same way for years. I was a bucket and trowel guy through and through. But once I got used to the hawk I realized I was actually making more trips back to the bucket to reload than I thought. The hawk keeps more mud within reach so you're not stopping as much. Plus you can load up the trowel way faster without looking down every time. It's like your hands learn to work together instead of one hand just holding a bucket.

Funny how that works with a lot of stuff though. Once you push through the annoying part, the new way ends up being easier than the old way you were so sure was better.
