That mortar additive I bought from the hardware store on impulse...
Spent $40 on some fancy polymer additive that promised stronger joints, and it actually made the mix too sticky to work with properly (like trying to spread wet concrete with a butter knife). Anyone else gotten burned by a product that sounded amazing in theory but was a total disaster on the job?

Did you try adding a little more water to loosen it up, or was it a total lost cause right out of the bucket? I've definitely been there with some "miracle" stuff that just made a bigger mess.
