Tried a $15 line laser for brick courses, thought it was a gimmick for 2 months

Finally gave in after my string line snapped for the third time on a job in Austin, and now I can't believe I squared that whole garden wall by eye for years, has anyone else switched and never looked back?

You ever notice how once you trust the laser, you start finding all sorts of weird uses for it? I used mine to check if a neighbor's fence post was plumb from across the yard, and then for leveling a picture shelf in my garage. It's like the thing pays for itself in all the little stuff you never thought to measure before. The string line always felt like it had a mind of its own, especially on windy days, so I don't miss that struggle at all. Just gotta make sure the batteries are fresh before you start, learned that the hard way mid-course.
