Tried laying my first curved garden wall with a string line instead of eyeballing it
I have been doing straight runs for years and always just eyeballed the curve on small garden walls. Last Saturday I helped a friend in Dayton with a 12 foot half circle wall and decided to pull a string tight between the two end points and measure off it every few bricks. The curve came out way smoother than any of my past ones, maybe a quarter inch off over the whole arc. I always figured a string was only good for straight work, but it kept me honest on the radius. Does anyone else use a jig or a trammel for arcs, or am I late to something everyone already does?
