Tried using a leveling system for the first time on a patio job

I've been laying brick for about 6 years now and always just used a string line and my eye. Last week I had a 400 square foot patio job in Phoenix and decided to try those plastic leveling clips and wedges. Honestly I thought they were kind of a gimmick but I was getting tired of checking every row. The first few rows were a pain to get the hang of the clips but by row 10 it was clicking. The final slab came out dead flat, way better than my usual work. Has anyone else switched to these and found they actually speed things up or slow you down?

Oh man I've been hearing about those clip systems for years but never tried em. Read a review in some masonry forum that said they were a game changer for big flat jobs like patios. Honestly I always thought they were just another gimmick to sell plastic junk to DIY guys but your story makes me want to give em a shot. Ive been laying brick since 2015 and my eye is pretty good but nothing beats dead flat especially on a 400 footer like that. The learning curve sounds like the main thing I'm worried about, I hate slowing down for new tools. Maybe I'll grab a bag of em next time I'm at the supply house and mess around on a small test pad.

@wesley801 doubt it's that big a deal if your eye is already good.
