Unpopular opinion: a string line beats my fancy laser level for long garden walls
I picked up a $12 string line and a few line blocks after my laser level kept drifting on me during a 30 foot garden wall in Boise. The laser is great inside, but outside in the sun I could barely see the beam and it kept giving me small dips I did not notice until the courses started showing it. The string does not lie, you can sight down it and see a high brick right away. Setup takes me maybe 4 minutes longer, but I have not torn out a course since. Anyone else still reach for the string on long runs, or is my laser just a cheap one?
